As February quickly approaches, CR takes a moment to celebrate the beauty, glamour, and excellence of the rise of black Hollywood for Black History month. Click through for a look back at the amazing African-American individuals that positioned themselves in the movie and music industry and their various successes along the way. Actress, dancer, and singer Kitt was the definition of a triple threat. Most known for her role as Catwoman on the television series Batman and her iconic Christmas song "Santa Baby," Kitt had a very long career in Hollywood up until her passing in Dandridge was one of the most successful African-American actresses of her time. She was the first black woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her lead role in the movie Carmen Jones.
